It is beginning to look like fall is in the air and we are headed towards some cooler weather. Even though I love the warm sunny days, I welcome the cool and wet months ahead. We trust you have enjoyed the summer months and were able to get some quality family time along with vacation and just plain enjoying the nice surroundings of our beautiful state.

We would like to welcome the following new members to our studio. Nicole Ellison, Ella Ellison, Koen Shelby, Amanda Broten, Kelsey Stenberg, Haylee Bownam, Logan Hill, Sam Black, Noah Black, Nina Neklina, and Taylor Smart. Congratulations on your commitment to self improvement and excellence. Our goal is to not only to offer you the best self defense instruction but to improve your overall quality of life as you gain confidence, discipline and enhanced physical skills. We appreciate you placing your trust in us and we will make every effort to make your journey rewarding and memorable.

Region 1 clinics: October 8, 2011 – Reno, NV
This clinic will take place prior to the Regional Black Belt test. Two instructors will teach during the hours of 8am – 1pm. Master Marc Fortin is an incredible instructor to train with as his experience and knowledge of the Martial Arts is immense. See flyers at the studio for more info.

November 12th – Garberville, CA.
This clinic is an all day event for those who want to seriously gain a deeper understanding of the Martial Arts. See flyers at the studio for more info. There are six instructors who will be teaching various topics. You won't want to miss this one!

November 11th and 13th – Split second survival with Master Wick - Garberville, CA. Master Wick's seminars are always a treat. He demonstrates ways of escape unlike most conventional methods that even the most novice persons and use effectively.

Come join us for an exciting evening of trick or treat fun. This costume party is open to all students, family members and friends. Games, prizes, refreshments and goodies will be provided!

November 21st and 22nd
We will have a photographer here taking individual pictures of our students to create a 2011 wall poster for Roseburg Martial Arts. This only takes place once a year and we would love to see your smiley face the new poster. There is only a $10.00 minimum purchase to be included on this poster.

RMAA will be closed the following days during the 2011 Holiday season:
November 24th and 25th (Thanksgiving Holiday)
Week of December 26th -30th (Christmas & New years)

Little Dragon white-Yellow belt exam is October 20th Under our new stripe system, students who have earned all required stripes on their belt may test in the upcoming October test cycle unless they have been otherwise notified by the instructor. See bulletin board for test times and details for submitting paperwork. The following items must be completed and turned in prior to the test date.

1. Test application
2. Gup I. D. card (not applicable to little dragons and new white belts)
3. Exam fee: $40.00 (All gup ranks)
4. Little Dragon exam fee: $15.00
5. Passed written exam: students testing for green belt and higher (see bulletin board for details)

Proper uniform trim must be worn on all green, brown and red belt uniforms during the test! Continued on back side *****

You can have your very own Karate Birthday party here at RMAA! Karate birthday parties are both fun and educational. We have Black Belt instructors fill the party with specially designed drills and games, making it a fun and exciting experience for your child and their friends. Private Lessons are available to anyone who may need some extra attention on specific skills, wither it be basics, forms, 1-step or self defense, sometimes a little one on one attention can make a big difference in your learning experience. If you have something newsworthy to share with the studio, please submit a word document with the details so we can post it in our newsletter. We are always looking for things to write about our students. School honor, Student of the month, leadership recognition, etc.

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Battle of the Champions tournament in Salem September 17th. Wow, we had 18 students compete in this event of which demonstrated some excellent skill and determination. I was very proud to see such effort and participation from our students at RMAA. Not only was there great attitudes and spirit but you brought back 24 trophies as well.

October 22nd –Medford, OR. This is an open Martial Arts tournament for all styles to compete. This event is close to home and normally has some excellent competition from around Oregon.

Reno, NV. The 2012 Championship is already ready for online registrations. Go to wtsda-region1.com to register online. Fees are step rated so early bird registration saves you $$$$$. The first early bird registration cut off is October 31st. The regional championship only comes around once each year. We believe your participation is a valuable experience as you develop friendships and engage in some friendly competition with others in our Region and with those who are a part of the World Tang Soo Do association. Meet our very own Grandmaster Shin who is the main driving force and founder of the WTSDA. I cannot overemphasize the importance of your support and attendance of this annual event. Please make it a priority to attend the 2012 event.

Jiu- Jitsu classes are now open Thursday evenings 7pm-8pm. Students 10 yrs and green belt or higher may attend these classes and gain some critical knowledge on how to defend yourself should you be taken down to the ground. Instructor Travis Johnson will teach you the skills that made the Gracie family so popular in the mixed martial arts environment.
